The ROKR collection is Motorola's music-focus series of handsets and the ROKR E8 is a solid bar phone with an innovative fast scrolling method for accessing the controls you need when you need them: designed for listening and sharing music. The E8 uses leading-edge ModeShift technology from Motorola enabling you to switch the device quickly from music player to phone to imaging device at the touch of a button. You simply move a thumb across the FastScroll navigation wheel to search for music (music mode) contacts (phone mode) calendar (phone mode) and multimedia (imaging mode). The E8 has a similar form factor to the Motorola SLVR L7 but feels thicker and wider in the hand. The front of the ROKR E8 is a sleek seamless panel that features Motorola's first ever haptic touch pad providing provides vibrating tactile feedback when you touch the virtual buttons. The E8 is skinny thin at 10.6 mm and weighs only 100g but packs a lot of connectivity as a quadband GPRS/EDGE device. There are no conventional buttons just the haptic keypad Along with ModeShift is the FastScroll navigation wheel enabling you to scroll through songs contacts and your image library with the slide of a thumb. There is a good sized 2GB internal memory with optional external storage up to an additional 2 GB capacity. All the usual suspects in terms of personal features are there including flight mode for uninterrupted music in the air even without a SIM card calculator and organiser. Battery life is pretty good too rated at up to five hours talk time and up to 300 hours on standby. |
